What’s Your Word?

Life is far more complex than we’d all probably like to admit! I mean we’ve spent the last two years dealing with a global pandemic on top of our normal family, work, school, relationship and self challenges. If that’s not complex, I don’t know what is.

With life being so crazy, we often find ourselves in search of simplicity. The simple things help us to feel calmer in our situations, as they don’t require much and they feel good too!

As we embark on this new journey, it is so important for us to bask in the simple. The little things that bring us joy like eating chocolate, going for walks, taking baths, and binge watching our favorite shows.

It is also essential for us to choose our word of the year! In previous years, I chose reciprocity and faith as those words really spoke to where I was at those times! This year, my word is balance! As I looked for a word most fitting today, balance kept falling on heart, and so I will plan to be more intentional about creating balance in my life.

This new year is symbolic, as it represents a clean slate, and though life is truly far more complex than we’d all like to admit, choosing to do one thing that will make us better is simple!

Choosing a word of the year can help you focus on a way of living that you want to emphasize! It can also motivate you to break some bad habits. I encourage you to think about some things you need to do and some changes you’d like to make. This should lead you to your word!

Once you have your word, I challenge you to write it down and think about what it really means to you and for you. come up with a plan for the year and decide how you’ll incorporate your word into your daily routines. Cheers to a new year of growth, elevation and positive change!

괜찮아요 (pronounced Goo-en-chana) is a Korean word that I’ve picked up from studying the language. It means “it’s ok”. I tend to freak out about things that I can’t control so this word will be my word for 2022 because it will be ok!
