You Gotta Nourish To Flourish!

Often times we associate self care with cliche things like manicures and pedicures. We think a trip to the spa means we are really caring for ourselves in the best ways possible. We may grab some wine and take a hot bath to ease the days complex expectations, or take a trip and post a few pics on the beach proclaiming that we are free.

The thing is, we forget that self care requires self care. We can't just take care of our outer appearances. We also have to take care of our inner most sacred parts. Our minds need to be cared for just as much as our nails and toes, if not more. We go through so much in life and sometimes we forget that every situation isn't easy to bounce back from. We think that sucking it up and not crying about it makes us strong, but the reality is we are not made stronger because we don't cry and we are not made stronger because we choose not to talk about what we go through.

If being a human being were that easy, then I guess there would be no need for therapists, psychiatrists or churches. No need for mental health and wellness right? No need for healing stations where were have opportunities to go pray and put our trust in God because sometimes life is just too much. Everyday we hear about people snapping, committing suicide, and much more. This is a clear indication that caring for your mind should be at the top of your list of things to do. This too, is apart of self preservation!

Iyanla Vanzant said it best when she said "you are entitled to honor what you feel. Whatever you repress will become stress".

I don't know about you all, but I think it's time for more self care.
